Let's discover shapes

In the first weeks of Collage the Little Faces children learned all about the shapes around them. Now they can go out and explore the shapes they find in real life. Here are some fun ways to discover shapes and practice together or alone.

1. MAKE A SHAPE FINDER!

You will need:

  • A few sheets of card

  • Scissors

  • Glue

  • Transparent paper/ folder inserts (optional)

I am going to make a circle finder and then you can go ahead and make whatever other shapes you like!

  • First find a big circle to trace and draw a circle on a sheet of card.

  • Next cut out the circle BUT leave a gap and cut in a handle too (if your circle is too big you can stick on a handle afterwards)

  • Now make a smaller circle in the middle and cut this out too.

  • Now with your transparent plastic, cut out a circle that matches the outside of you card circle. Glue them together.

  • You can decorate you circle hunter however you want .. I covered mine in circles!

  • Now you´re ready to go hunt circles!!!

2. SHAPE TREASURE HUNT!

If you don't have time to make your own shape finder you can simply print off a shape treasure hunt here and you’re ready to go explore!.. (this sheet can be used to trace/ cut out/ colour or whatever yo want!)

3. SHAPES VIDEO

Here is a great video about finding shapes around the house

Good luck on finding all your shapes!!!
